All of a sudden I get the user account message “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?” whenever I download a xliff file to check. I also get the same message when I try editing a segment using Ctrl+E. I’m not sure what is causing the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
I found the problem: somehow the default app associated with the .xliff file type was set to the Xbench setup file. I changed the default app to XBench.exe and now everything seems to be fine.
Xbench.exe does not need to be associated the .xliff extension, it currently does not use it in any way.
Perhaps you accidentally associated the extension by using Chrome’s Always open with?
I don’t think it will harm if you keep the association and perhaps some other CAT tool will eventually poach the association. I just mention in case you thought this association was somehow necessary for Xbench, it is not.
Thanks for the info, pcondal.
