# Convert a key terms file into an Xbench checklist

Hi folks,

From time to time, users ask how to create a checklist out of a list of terms automatically. The usual way is to add entries one by one to a checklist.

The following application allows you to convert a text file into a checklist. The input file must be a two-column Unicode tab-delimited text file.

The application is available at [this github repository](https://github.com/omartint/KeyTermsToChecklistConverter/blob/master/KeyTermsToChecklistConverter.exe). Just click the link and then the **Download** button to get the .exe file.

The application is provided as is. It creates a valid checklist file that can be added to your Xbench projects.

Checklists created by the app can be used in Xbench 2.9. However, the **Normalize Native Chars** option will not be checked as it is not available in Xbench 2.9.

Hi! I need to create a forbidden term list as a checklist. I used this very useful tool to convert the Excel file to a checklist but it stills loads the terms as a regular glossary, “X term should be translated as Y”, and I want the opposite, I want XBench to identify them as “forbidden terms”. I have always entered each forbidden term manually but I wanted to see if there was an option to do it in bulk, as with the regular glosssary.

To create a checklist of forbidden terms, instead of a regular glossary (i.e. a term that should not be translated in a specific way), disable the key terms mismatch mode checkbox.
