# Cannot install or update Xbench - "Windows protected your PC"

Sometimes Microsoft Defender Smartscreen prevents the installation or update of ApSIC Xbench claiming that it is a unrecognized app which was downloaded from the Internet.

There are two possible solutions to this problem.

**Solution 1** : Click the _Don’t run_ button to cancel the installation. Right-click on the _Setup.Xbench.xxx.zip_ file you downloaded from [www.xbench.net](http://www.xbench.net) and select _Properties_. A dialog will popup:

Make sure to check the _Unblock_ box and click _OK_. Retry the installation.

**Solution 2** : Click the _More info_ link. This will enable the _Run anyway_ button.

Click on it and the Xbench installation will start.
