Xbench authentication seems blocked by Symantech firewall

Hello,

I am currently working on a machine with Symantech firewall installed. When the firewall is activated, the authentication fails and Xbench is slowed down each time it tries to authenticate. I work off line. If I deactivate Symantech, Xbench can authenticate. However I am not allowed by the corporate rules to deactivate Symantech.

Do you know what exceptions I could set in Symantech to allow Xbench authentication?

We are not familiar with Symantec’s firewall, but these are the two things that your firewall should allow:

  • Allow that program “xbench.exe” sends HTTP requests. This is needed for user authentication.
  • Allow that program “XBPluginUpdate.exe” sends HTTP requests. This is needed to download Xbench spell-check dictionaries.

If your Symantec’s firewall allows you two whitelist these two programs so that they can send HTTP requests, authentication and dictionary download should work normally.
